Nova Scotia: A Gem in Eastern Canada

Sophie from our Canada team has recently returned from a wonderful trip to Nova Scotia. She stayed at the Cambridge Suites Halifax Hotel, which was in a great location in Halifax, the Digby Pines Hotel, and the White Point Beach Resort, which was her favourite hotel of the stay.

Sophie had visited the west of Canada previously, but this was her first time visiting eastern Canada. Here’s what Sophie had to say:

“I’ve just returned from a wonderful trip to Nova Scotia – what a beautiful province. Having already experienced the west of Canada, it was great to catch a glimpse of what the east has to offer. Our first stop was the incredible city of Halifax.

I found Halifax to be a very charming city, with a vibrant yet laid-back feel. The Harbour Boardwalk was my favourite spot; there was plenty of entertainment happening and a lively cultural scene. Halifax’s history is fascinating, particularly its many links to Scotland.

Next, we headed to Burntcoat Head Provincial Park in the Bay of Fundy, which was a fascinating experience. It is known for having the highest tides in the world. I was lucky enough to walk on the ocean floor during low tide, and within a minute, the same spot where I had just stood was completely submerged – you have to move quickly!

That day, I also enjoyed my first-ever wine-tasting tour at the world-renowned Luckett Vineyards – what a treat.

We stayed at three hotels during our trip. My favourite was White Point Beach Resort, which was absolutely stunning. It’s the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a few nights of tranquil relaxation, surrounded by a picturesque beach and lots of wildlife. I was fortunate enough to spot a deer with her baby fawns while walking back to my room one evening.

Another highlight of my trip was the food. We visited the seaport of Lunenburg and dined at The Old Fish Factory, where I enjoyed the freshest seafood I’ve ever tasted. I finally got to try the famous lobster roll.

The trip as a whole was extraordinary, but if I had to pick one highlight, it would have to be seeing the magnificent Peggy’s Cove and its famous lighthouse – it was amazing! I even wore my kilt.”
